Traveling to Maldives just became easier – On-Arrival PCR Test Validity extended to 96 hours

On 10th September 2020, Maldives made it mandatory for all tourists and other short-term visitors to provide a certificate of negative PCR test result for COVID-19, with the sample taken 72 hours before departure to Maldives. However, the duration was revised and announced yesterday by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives, extending the validity duration to 96 hours and presenting yet another reason to #VisitMaldivesNow.

The PCR certificate should include the result and the date of the sample taken, as well as the name and address of the laboratory that the test was performed. Those entering to Maldives under Tourist Visa, Business Visa, Special Visa, and ship crew arriving to sign-on are required to show a negative PCR test for COVID-19.

Travelers are also required to submit an online health declaration form, submitted via IMUGA (imuga.immigration.gov.mv) website, within 24 hours before travelers’ departure to the Maldives. All passengers including tourists, visa holders, and even Maldivians are obligated to submit the online health declaration form.

With the reopening of borders on 15th July 2020, Maldives welcomed tourists once again with no mandatory quarantine required on arrival. If any symptoms were to arise or if passengers had any suspicions, they were to test at their own expense. The Maldives also issued a 30-day free on-arrival visa, provided if guests were confirmed for a booking at a registered tourist facility in the country.

The Maldives has also introduced a COVID-19 insurance package exclusive for tourists visiting the country. Read more about it here.

The Maldives is one of the countries welcoming travelers all around the globe. The unique archipelago enables tourists to enjoy a social-distancing-friendly vacation at one of the most beautiful tropical destinations in the world.
