Good News On Horizon For Superyacht Arrivals To Thailand

Thailand: The Thai Government are considering to ease restrictions on International Superyacht and yacht arrivals in to Thailand. Planned to come in to effect for the beginning of November, this will be an extremely welcome boost for the countries Marine Industry.

Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, Spokesman for Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), explained yesterday in a news briefing “ Relaxed rules will make it easier for people on yachts and the foreign crew of ships to enter the country, but with strict adherence to health measures”.

The Government is also looking to shorten the current 14 day mandatory quarantine period down to 10 days, in order to assist Yacht Crew and entice foreign tourists back.

Thailand, being Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy is currently seeing its worst fiscal contraction in over twenty years. This is due mostly to the shut down of the countries vital tourism sector since March 2020. Commercial flights for inbound foreign travellers, as well as a ban on international yacht arrivals has been in place for seven months now. Although this extreme measure has been effective in controlling the spread of Covid-19 within Thailand’s borders (just over 3,700 infections and 51 deaths), the blockade on foreign visitors has caused extreme hardship in the tourism sector and marine industry. It has lead to mass unemployment and financial hardship for hundreds of thousands of workers.

An official announcement from the Thai Government, regarding the new regulations for easing of restrictions on International Superyacht and yacht arrivals is expected very soon.
