Here’s what’s Hot for 2024 on Phuket’s Beaches
Thailand’s Phuket Island offers a varied selection of the world’s best Beach Clubs, from grand seaside pool venues to places which, while modest in size, pack a punch where it counts. All of them share the same qualities of fun and sophistication and are fantastic places to enjoy a chilled-out day.
Catch Beach Club on Surin Beach was the first and original club on the island and opened almost a decade ago. With Phuket growing in popularity, there was a clear need and potential for more to open up. A good beach club definitely complements the tropical mood of the island… beach and exploration during the day, beach parties with international DJs at night. While the original Catch has closed and relocated, its legacy lives on in the many clubs which now line Phuket’s beaches.
Phuket’s beach club formula includes: setting up a stylish modern restaurant/bar made from natural elements as near to the sea and sand as possible, organising the occasional party with internationally recognised DJs/artists, mixing it up with some capable barmen who know how to fix cocktails, adding a talented chef who can create delicious tapas and classy snacks to accompany the drinks… the final touch… a beautiful sunset to ensure everyone has the perfect evening at the beach club.
#10 M Beach Club
Mai Khao is usually Phuket’s quietest beach, but M Beach Club brings it to life with a vibrant design combined with traditional Thai hospitality. You can expect mouth-watering cocktails and delicious tapas-style nibbles to go with the sights and sensations of a beachfront bar. After night falls, the relaxing atmosphere makes way for lively music and entertainment throughout the evening.

#9 COAST Beach Club & Bistro Phuket
COAST is the only beach club on Karon Beach, and is found right at the northern end, at the Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket. As one of the hotel’s main dining outlets, it specialises more in luxury cuisine than big-name performers. Daily specials including steak nights on Wednesdays, a meat-lover’s buffets on Saturdays and a Sunday Brunch. It’s probably the most family-friendly of Phuket’s best beach clubs, with pool parties featuring singers, magicians and acrobats.

#8 Iguana Beach Club
Iguana Beach Club is a relaxed place and among the most hidden of Phuket’s beach clubs, being located on a tiny, exclusive beach between Kalim and Kamala beaches. It takes its name from the iguana-shaped rock formation on the 20-metre-long beach. The club has a ‘back-to-nature’ style, but the rustic look conceals an upscale bar and restaurant which is particularly good for watching the sunset from.

#7 HQ Beach Lounge
HQ Beach Lounge Phuket has an especially classy look and feel to it. What it lacks in size and scope, it makes up for with design and dining. The drinks selection is impressive and the innovative cuisine puts interesting new twists on relatively simple dishes. It’s run by the same people behind the luxurious Twinpalms Phuket resort, Catch Beach Club and Palm Seaside, so high quality is assured. No other beach club in Phuket has such a lovely natural setting, right in among the trees and the dappled shade they provide.

#6 Xana Beach Club
One of the older names of the Phuket beach club scene, Xana still packs a punch where it counts. The beachfront pool and neighbouring restaurant have an undeniably fun and friendly atmosphere, as well as a sleek look of bold colours against white backgrounds. The Sunday Brunch is something very special, as are the special party nights featuring big-name DJs. Expect a well-chosen mix of down tempo lounge, chill-out, house and deep house beats, with the occasional touch of funk, soul and disco.

#5 KUDO Beach Club
Located right in the heart of Patong, you can guarantee a great party atmosphere on any day of the week at KUDO. You can enjoy an impressive range of signature cocktails and an international snacks with pounding beats throughout the day and into the night. Take your pick of a variety of seating options, from poolside daybeds to sun loungers on the beach, and enjoy the first-rate service and stylish setting.

#4 Catch Beach Club
Catch built an amazing reputation as the first and last word in Phuket beach clubs from their Surin Beach location. When that was forced to close, they relocated to Bangtao Beach and rapidly outdid themselves. The club is famous for its great food, service, cocktails and outstanding atmosphere. It’s probably the most popular of Phuket’s best beach clubs among locals and expatriates and is a good place for families, too.

#3 Paradise Beach Club
Paradise Beach Club is the only place in Phuket to take the name “beach club” to its literal conclusion. The dance floor is the beach, and it comes to life several times a month for Koh Phangan-style beach parties. During the day, the choice of activities available is also extremely impressive, including scuba diving, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and more. Being located out on the headland south of Patong, on the other side of some steep hills, it’s a bit of a challenge to reach, but definitely worth the journey.

#2 Dream Beach Club
The huge Dream Beach Club complex dominates Layan Beach, at the northern end of Bangtao Beach, and is easily the largest club of its kind in the whole of Thailand. It has two swimming pools, four bars and over 100 sun loungers, daybeds and cabanas to choose from. It’s the last word in luxury, with the menu featuring a gold leaf-coated burger containing wagyu beef, black truffle cream and foie gras, as well as bacon, cheddar cheese and more, served with a chilled bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne. Expect nothing short of the finest quality and class.

#1 Café del Mar Phuket
As beach club brands go, Café del Mar is undoubtedly among the most famous, spreading from its home in Ibiza to locations right around the globe. What the club lacks in size (especially compared to Dream), it more than makes up for with the iconic Balearic beats, fire shows, dancers, musicians and signature cocktails. Expect A-list guest DJs, premium casual cuisine and the famous Original Sunset Sessions, bringing the evening to life in a way no other club in Phuket can match.
