Phuket’s restaurant industry has became very competitive, with the island now boasting over 2,000 restaurants.

It’s not easy putting a definitive ‘Top Ten’ list together, as there are so many great restaurants in Phuket, with new ones opening up every day. Seal Superyachts have tried to decide the current ‘best of the best’ for Superyacht owners and guests. Our picks are not governed by cost but judged rather by location, views, ambiance, quality of food, wines, cocktails and of course service.

#10 Blue Elephant

Arguably the best fine dining Thai cuisine in Phuket town!

#9 Acqua

Acqua is among the best of Phuket’s Italian restaurants. It’s owned by chef Alessandro Frau, Executive Chef at Sheraton Laguna Phuket for four years before starting his own venue in 2009.

An Italian restaurant in the heart of Kalim Bay, Acqua Restaurant offers an eye-popping menu of imaginative dishes drawing from contemporary and traditional cuisine. Run by Italian-born chef Alessandro, Acqua’s kitchen is in a constant state of culinary experimentation, concocting various dishes. Featuring a variety of homemade pastas, raviolis and wood-fired pizzas, the menu also offers some mouth-watering meat and seafood options such as veal ossobucco, beef tenderloin and seabass fillet. With its outstanding combination of first-class food in an ultra-chic yet chilled-out environment with immaculate service.

Expect it all. Traditional, regional and modern interpretations of Italian food, including pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven imported from Italy. #8 Boathouse

With a fabulous location overlooking the lapping waves of Kata beach, eating here feels very romantic and special. The look is breezy and elegant, the seafood is locally caught and lightly grilled and the locals just can’t get enough of it. Arrive early for drinks at the adjoining Re Ka Ta beach club before cosying up at a pre-booked cabana on the beach. The Boathouse has one of the most extensive wine collections in Thailand, with several thousand bottles to choose from.

#7 Breeze

One of Phuket’s most loved establishments, Breeze at Cape Yamu serves exceptional dishes in a gorgeous neighbourhood setting. Run by a French-Canadian trained team, Breeze offers a delectable unassuming menu of modern French cuisine with a backbone of Asian ingredients and local produce.

#6 Baan Rim Pa

Literally meaning “house next to the cliff,” Baan Rim Pa is on the rocky headlands north of Patong Bay.

An open-air dining institution open for more than 20 years and set in a two-story teak house, it serves a range of Thai cuisine. Diners get to eyeball views over the entire bay as they listen to the waves crashing onto rocks below.

For authentic royal Thai food, Baan Rim Pa is a superb dining destination featuring sumptuous dishes that were once only found in the Grand Palace of Thailand. Spiced soups, herbed salads, green and yellow curries with beef, chicken and seafood, and steamed fish, are just some of the many delicacies on the menu. Housed in a two-storey Thai building made out of teak, perched on a cliff with panoramic views across Patong Bay, the restaurant’s name Baan Rim Pa literally translates as ‘house next to the cliff’. On most evenings there is a pianist who plays a medley of blues and jazzy rhythms on the piano at the bar. Perfect for a special occasion or an intimate meal, the Baan Rim Pa leaves nothing wanting.

#5 Ka Jok See

This is one of the most famous restaurants in town that has made its reputation purely through word of mouth and fun nights, mostly ending with dancing on the tables. Despite the lack of signage and almost non-existent advertisements, the restaurant’s popularity was so infectious that it was worthy to be mentioned in international magazines such as NY Times and UK Glamor.

A surprisingly fun night is to be expected and should be visited for those up for a really fun night with partying after dinner. Ka Jok See is packed every night so make sure to reserve at least a week in advance. Not only is atmosphere cheerful, the restaurant is set in a Sino Portuguese shop house with a vintage Thai/European decoration that makes it cosy and warm as it gets crowded.

Lastly and most importantly, you will have a feast dining there, expect some authentic and tasty Thai dishes.

#4 Mom Tri’s Kitchen, Kata Noi

Mom Tri’s offers all the attributes of a fabulous and romantic dinner in Phuket. Seated on a headland overlooking the Andaman Sea and the white sand beach of Kata Noi beach, this restaurant is located in a property that once belonged to a Thai royalty.
